HOLDX - Safety Locking Device
Locking with diagnostic power!
Get your free quick analysis
The smart magnetic lock for machines and systems where diagnostics, easy integration, and high availability are essential. HOLDX R combines a contactless RFID safety sensor with an intelligent electromagnet in one compact device. The result: protected processes through securely closed doors, fast fault localization, and reduced downtime.
Find out in our free quick analysis what matters when choosing a process lock: from run-down time and safety distance to series connection of multiple doors.
HOLDX R supports maintenance and production with extensive diagnostic and logging functions. Events, status changes, and detected tampering attempts are documented and stored so they can be traced. This allows faults to be analyzed faster, causes to be identified more clearly, and unplanned downtime to be reduced. The result: more transparency in operation, shorter response times in service, and higher system availability.
Process locks protect machine processes and prevent guards from being opened during critical process states. We explain when a process lock makes more sense than a safety lock in the FAQ, and in detail in the quick analysis.
The smart HOLDX R magnetic lock is now also available with IO-Link. The standardized, bidirectional IO-Link interface enables fast, real-time transmission of diagnostic and status data, simplifies installation, and allows individual control of up to 30 networked locks. Doors can be unlocked or locked individually as needed.
The intelligent HOLDX R magnetic lock enables communication with your standard PLC via the diagnostic outputs, or conveniently via Bluetooth with your smartphone or laptop.
Thanks to the LEDs mounted on both sides, the HOLDX R door lock enables straightforward, fast fault diagnosis. This allows you to take proactive maintenance measures, such as cleaning or realigning the lock. You can find the full explanation with video further below in the LED Diagnostics section.
The combination of RFID technology and an advanced electromagnet gives the HOLDX R a high tolerance for door offset. This significantly increases machine availability, even with imprecise door guidance.
The intelligent HOLDX R safety switch provides an automatic fault message via IO-Link or the diagnostic output, so manual checking of the fault source is no longer required.
Pre-configured software blocks for Siemens, Beckhoff, Rockwell, B&R, and Omron reduce engineering effort and enable fast commissioning. Integration is simple plug-and-play, without extensive custom programming.
With HOLDX, you are well prepared for the future. It complies with Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, meets the requirements of EN ISO 14119, and is also IO-Link compatible.
With the HOLDX Manager, you access the diagnostic data of your magnetic lock directly via Bluetooth, without any extra effort. Important information such as firmware version, device name, and the number of door openings is displayed clearly.
The software is available free of charge for Windows as well as an app for mobile devices, and can be used flexibly on a laptop or smartphone.
The HOLDX R2 enables straightforward, intelligent series connection of up to 30 locks. Thanks to the two pigtail cables, direct chaining is implemented quickly and easily, without a terminal box, Y-splitter, or distributor box. This saves both cost and valuable time during commissioning, especially for packaging machines and systems with more than ten doors in the safety circuit.
Through continuous monitoring of the safety outputs, device functions, and downstream actuators in the safety circuit, HOLDX R detects deviations at an early stage. Faults, whether in series-connected or individually wired systems, are detected quickly and easily, without the need for measuring or diagnostic equipment.
The LEDs on both sides enable fast and easy fault diagnosis. If an additional process lock in the system fails to reach the required locking force, or if a fault occurs in the input or output circuit of the lock, this is displayed immediately. This allows you to clean or realign the lock as part of preventive maintenance.
HOLDX RS and HOLDX RL are available as two variants with different locking force: HOLDX RS has a more compact design and offers 600 N locking force, HOLDX RL is designed for larger doors and offers 1,200 N locking force.
Two practical examples show how HOLDX R1 and R2 solve different requirements, from single-door protection to series connection of multiple doors.
Not every application places the same demands on a guard locking device. In our free quick analysis, you'll learn which differences between process locks and safety locks matter, how run-down time and safety distance influence the choice, and what role series connection and diagnostics play in planning.
A process lock is a safety device that ensures guards or other separating protective devices can only be opened once a hazardous movement in a machine has come to a complete standstill. Unlike a safety lock, it works according to the open-circuit current principle: it is de-energized open and is held locked by an electromagnet.
With mechanical safety switches in a series connection, fault diagnosis can be significantly limited. Learn how much this affects the achievable performance level and how the HOLDX R2 solves this problem in our quick analysis.
Yes. HOLDX RS offers a more compact design with 600 N locking force, HOLDX RL is designed for larger doors and offers 1,200 N locking force.
HOLDX R supports Siemens, Beckhoff, Rockwell, B&R, and Omron. Thanks to standardized interfaces and available software blocks, the solution integrates seamlessly into existing automation environments.
If you are looking for a magnetic lock that supports fast diagnostics, easy integration, and high availability, HOLDX R is a strong solution for modern machine concepts. For a technical assessment of your application, for example regarding run-down time, safety distance, choice of locking type, and series connection, our quick analysis is the logical next step.
