Transition period for the UKCA marking
Transition period for the UKCA marking until the end of 2024!
The European CE marking will be replaced by the UKCA marking in the legal area of Great Britain.
Since 01 January 2021, the new UKCA marking has come into force in the UK. With a four-year transition period until December 31, 2024, the CE marking will continue to be recognized in the UK for certain products. (Nov. 14, 2022 amendment) This gives companies two more years and allows them to use the CE marking in the UK. After the transition period, i.e. from 01 January 2025, only those or those with the new UKCA mark will then be accepted for certain product groups. They can carry both the CE and UKCA markings as long as they fully comply with both EU and UK regulations.
The UKCA (UK Conformity Assessed) mark is used to replace CE marking requirements for products marketed in the UK. The UKCA mark makes it clear that a product placed on the UK market, meets the conformity requirement of that market. The conformity assessment procedures for the UK and underlying technical rules (EN standards) that must be used to demonstrate conformity are largely the same as those used for CE marking.
